The Nomination Committee wants you to know that YOU ARE IMPORTANT! Are you one of those who has ignored, avoided or ran from the “pull” of call? Do you get a knot in your stomach or your heart pounds in your chest when you hear of a project, or team, or new idea to make FUPC great! Are you a person who sits silent because you are afraid to commit to a team or project, but you know deep down that you would be a fantastic asset who could help achieve the goal? Do you simply come to church and let your spouse be the one of the family to volunteer their time and you are the one to write the check for offering? I have a confession...
I had let Kellie do all of the work at FUPC and I was the check writer until I got involved in my church life at FUPC and said yes to being on Session three years ago. I have grown more in the last three years than the ten prior years now that I am active in my church! Now is the time to embrace your anxiety, silence, your pounding chest and untie the knot in your stomach! Your Session board, your Deacon board and the FUPC teams work hard and can be even more effective and efficient with your input, effort and time.
Okay, enough of the cheerleading… So what does this mean for my time? Here is the deal. You are usually committing to two meetings per month, (one for your board and one for your team), most months of the year. Your Session and Deacons usually take one Summer month off and one Winter month off, so then you are looking at 10 meetings for each year for three years if you are elected to a full term. There are no pre-qualifications other than you have to be a member of FUPC. So, if you want to make a difference and have a voice in our direction as a congregation, now is the time to join the church! Your Nomination Committee is excited to entertain all persons who are recommended by the congregation. Please be aware that being recommended does not mean that you will be asked to serve at this time. We are looking to fill several board positions for the current and next year. We need people who play well with others and who are committed to making a difference in our growth at FUPC! Tag, YOU ARE IT!!!
There are recommendation forms on the small table at the back of the church or you can request one from Bev Webber, chair of the Nomination Committee, at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
Enthusiastically submitted,
Patrick Bashor, Elder, Session board President.
